10 days before the murder of Sidhu Moosewala, the Punjab police requested the extradition of Goldy Brar from Canada

Ten days before singer Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu Moosewala was shot dead on May 29 and Canadian mobster Goldy Brar took responsibility for plotting his murder, Punjab police on May 19 sent a proposal to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to obtain a Red Corner Notice (RCN) issued against Brar to enable his extradition to India.

An official spokesperson for the Punjab government, in a written statement late Wednesday, said the proposal was sent on the basis of two cases in which Brar was wanted. One of them is a registered FIR for attempted murder and other IPC sections and arms law sections on November 12, 2020, and the other is a registered FIR on February 18, 2021 for murder and other IPC items. and articles of the law on weapons. Both cases were registered at the Faridkot town police station.

“With mobster Goldy Brar claiming responsibility for the murder of Sidhu Moosewala on behalf of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, the Punjab Police left no stone unturned to extradite the mobster. Satinderjit Singh alias Goldy Brar, a native of Sri Muktsar Sahib who had gone to Canada on a student visa in 2017, is an active member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang,” the spokesperson said.

The spokesperson said that “Punjab Police has also requested the issuance of Red Corner Notices (RCN) against Gangster Turned Terrorist Harwinder Singh Sandhu alias Rinda from Rattoke Village, Tarn Taran who has been sent to CBI May 5.”

The spokesperson added, “Rinda, who is responsible for introducing and operationalizing many terrorist modules in Punjab in the recent past, is now based in Pakistan. He, backed by Pak ISI, was also responsible for smuggling a huge amount of arms and ammunition into India. A huge amount of arms/ammunition and IEDs recovered from four terrorists arrested in Karnal during a joint operation with Punjab Police, also belonged to Rinda. Most recently, he was responsible for the RPG attack on [Punjab police] Intelligence Headquarters through its officers; grenade attack on the CIA office, Nawanshahr, in November 2021; and an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) attack on Kahlwan Police Station in Anandpur Sahib, Rupnagar.

The police spokesperson said that a red corner notice against Rinda was sought in three cases from Patiala district: FIR registered at Tripuri police station on January 6, 2014, for attempted murder and other offences. under the Indian Penal Code, an FIR registered at Sadar Police Station, Patiala on 26th May 2016, for attempted murder and other offenses under the IPC and under sections of the Arms Act, and an FIR registered at Rajpura Police Station on July 19, 2016, under various sections of the IPC, including preparation for a dacoity, and under sections of the Arms Act.

The proposal is pending at the CBI for liaison with Interpol, the spokesperson said, adding that upon execution of the NCR, the extradition proposal will be forwarded to the MHA (Ministry of Interior) and to the MEA (Department of External Affairs).
