28 coronavirus cases linked to cluster outbreak at Crossroads Church in Fitchburg
Fitchburg health officials said on Tuesday there were 28 confirmed coronavirus cases related to an outbreak at Crossroads Church.
The outbreak stems from services held at the church, located at 839 Ashby State Road in Fitchburg, on Oct. 18, health officials said.
Health officials say they are working with businesses, schools and other local officials affected by the cluster of churches “to help reduce the spread.”
“Anyone who attended these services last week is advised to watch for symptoms and get tested for COVID-19,” officials said.
The church has “voluntarily” closed its doors following the cluster epidemic. Massachusetts Labor Standards worked with church leaders to ensure a safe reopening, officials said.
We don’t know when the church will reopen.
Public health officials confirmed 1,025 more cases of COVID-19 Tuesday, bringing the statewide tally to just over 150,000 people.
Officials also announced seven more COVID-related deaths, bringing the total number of deaths to 9,664 since the start of the pandemic.
There are currently 567 people hospitalized for COVID-19, including 109 in intensive care.
