Police identify 77-year-old man found dead in Kitsilano home as homicide victim

The Vancouver Police Department is investigating the city’s 17th homicide in 2021, after reporting that an elderly man was found dead Friday in a house near West 3rd Avenue and MacDonald Street.

Police said she was called to the area around 11 a.m. on Friday and found the body of Justis Daniels, 77.

“No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing,” the VPD said in a statement.

Witnesses told CBC News on Friday that there was a police presence in Tatlow Park.

The 1.4 hectare park includes a country house, a playground, tennis courts and a bathroom. It also has an on-site caretaker according to the City of Vancouver. Police did not say whether this person was involved in the death.

Investigators are looking for anyone with onboard camera video or witnesses who were in the park between 7 a.m. on December 9 and 11 a.m. on December 10.
